Utilizing high-modulus carbon pre-preg, Loftmasts are built to last. Loftmasts are controlled in design and production to flexwith a “constant curve” which measures 64% at the base (lower ¼), 76% at the top (upper ¼).

Biconical masts

Loft commenced with developing special 100% Carbon RDM Wide Biconical racing masts for Formula Windsurfing.

These larger masts having a RDM base which increases its diameter (4-5mm) to a similar size as an SDM mast has next to the ferrule. Stronger construction and thicker sidewalls like SDM´s in the camber area, less weight in the top ( the only advantage of SDM´s so far). A better bending curve and higher longivity are the positives.

The same we done with the smaller sizes of 100% RDMs. These masts have normal rdm diameter on the bottom, increasing a little bit the outer diameter (2-3mm) untill the ferrule and than reducing to the tip like on normal rdms.

Positives - faster response/reflex, nicer curve in the middle section and stronger construction like other rdm designs in the market.

The differences of our BICO RDM's 100% carbon are less weight & faster response/reflex.

Autoclave process

Loft BICO masts are constructed using carbin fiber pre-pregs which are cured using a tempspecific autoclave process. The result produces masts with the highest possible laminate qualities: no air entrapment for maximized mast integrity.

Carbon fiber layers

Loft BICO masts include an inner spiral of carbon for compression strength. Three layers of unidirectional carbon run longitudinally (without crimp) for maximum compressive strength. Loftmasts production processes allow the fiber layers to be controlled in spacing and distribution so mast flex “fine tuning” becomes possible.

Integrated ferrule

The mast joint is built with an integrated ferrule that eliminates mast pre-bend… Loftmasts flex curves remain accurate and performance is optimized.
