Loft Sails Blade Race Sail
2010 Loft Sails Blade Speed Sail

The 2010 Blade is a unique slalom/speed design, the fruit from 6 years of design development.

Blades are cutting-edge… Blades enjoy a long history of competition success… Spindler-designed Blades have claimed 3 absolute World Speed Records & many PWA World Cup victories. Loft Blades powered Valerie Ghibaudo to International Speedsailing World Cup Championships in 2008 & 2009.

In 2009 Loft Blade sailors placed overall 1st and 3rd in the Australian GPS Team Challenge & 2nd in the masters.

Blades 9.7-7.0 8 battens, 6.3-4.9 7 battens. 7 tubes 7.0 to 9.7, 6 tubes 4.9 to 6.3.

All Blades are engineered with two "Super tubes"; 100% carbon battens (first two above the boom)

The Blade is cutting-edge upper-end speed with an easy, light feeling. Blades 2010 also feature:

  • Internal Kevlar strip applications that define shape profile and maintain shape stability - vertical and horizontal (at cams) orientation.
  • Alternate side batten pocket applications with xply pockets (centered battens)
  • Stepped x-ply construction (5mil lower sections, 4mil upper sections and mast pocket)
  • Sensitip head batten system
  • RDM only - reliability with a sharp leading edge
  • Metallic cam interfaces
  • 4 RDM Teckams (simple, functional, light, adjustable, durable), all sizes
  • Planchemag 2008 race sail tests, Blade 6.8 2008. Headline: "Easy, alive, and terrifically effective."
“For those who are looking for something different, the Loft Blade has a light, manoeuvrable and soft feeling much better than any other sail, all this at the performance level of the best ones."…the heaviest construction of the group with 70% of x-ply. Its originality is that the recommended mast is a 460 RDM. Easy to rig by hands (not difficult to downhaul)… It has a strong “breathing” capacity and transmits a lot of feelings in the hands. Beyond the pleasure to use this sail, it's also a really efficient and complete motor that will give you the best performances when conditions are extreme, for example in choppy waters." Tester's opinion: The most fun race sail on the market.
