Loft Sails Switchblade Windsurfing Sail
2010 Loft Sails Switchblade Multi Cam Windsurfing Sail

The Switchblade is The Loft´s new two-cam slalom design, power-packed for top-end performance in less-than ideal conditions.

High luff-elasticity provides enormous wind range. Effective downhaul trim range over 5cm switches from a light wind powerhouse- to high-wind race performance.

Designed with deeper profiles & longer boom lengths than Blades, Switchblades are targeted at performance light wind/upwind, slalom, wide boards & raceboards (with centerboard).

The exclusive Blade mast pocket construction creates clean, fully loaded mast pockets with equalized loading (rotation ease).

Switchblades switch… from sdm to rdm! Sdm Tekcams cams are mounted in the Switchblade. For rdm masts- 2 rdm cams are packed into the sailbag... remove sdm Tekcams, place rdm Tekcams. Switch! Simple!

Switchblade 2010 features include:

  • Blade mast pocket construction: mast panel AND pocket sides (3 elements) tensioned directly.
  • Firm, clean, easy-rotating leading edge.
  • Sensitip head batten system.
  • Alternate side batten pocket applications with xply pockets (centered battens).
  • Metallic cam interfaces.
  • Tekcams (x4). New, simple, functional, light, adjustable, durable.

  • Planchemag 2009 “Equipment Zapp”, The Loft Switchblade 7.8 Oct 2008. Excerpts translated to English by Anton of WXT Holland:

“Very easy to rig (490rdm), the construction is a benchmark for the level of reinforcements. Overall performance is excellent, very close to a racing sail. This sail is all you need for almost all kinds of windsurfers. In jibes the cambers rotate well and the sail feels light. The sail has the power to pull the heaviest windsurfboard into planning. We also rigged the SB with a North Gold Sdm, changing the cambers (which is easy!) and the sail seemed perfect. The SB works in a big wind range, in combination with daggerboard windsurfboards (light, and very powerful). Switch Blade: A very nice surprise, suitable for all kinds of windsurfers.”
